The Aleutian Islands are largely destitute of trees because of the fierce winds that can rage at any time during the year. However, the State Tree of Alaska, the Sitka Spruce, and others have been planted there by the Russians and later the Americans. However the Spruce does not reach its stately height of up to 50 metres but stays a dwarf. This one looks very healthy and attractive.
