Shared Note: - Thomas was employed by the South Australian Railways and was engaged as First Assistant on the connection of the line from Marree to Oodnadatta. He also worked at Peterborough and on the Crystal Brook-Jamestown line. He resigned to go to Broken Hill to work for the Silverton Tramways Company for several years. He returned to the SAR to work at Murray Bridge as Resident Engineer and then as Superintendent. His obituary was published in the Adelaide "Observer" which concluded that "Mr Kernot was of a bright and happy disposition, full of energy and devoted to his work."
