Shared Note: - From Hardesty's History of Gallia County, 1882: "James A. Boggs and his wife Matilda, daughter of Thomas and Miriam (St one) Waugh were married in Gallia County, January 25, 1877. They have thr ee children: Orie May, born March 4, 1878; William E., January 20, 1880; T homas A., October 18, 1881. Mr. Boggs was born in this county August 1 5, 1844. His parents, James and Mary (Wiliams) Boggs, were among the earl iest settlers here, settling in 1818. His wife was born in Ohio Townshi p, January 5, 1848. He was in Company F, 141st Ohio National Guards in t he late war and was honorably discharged at the close. He is a farmer a nd stock-raiser, and has held the office of treasurer and postmaster. Add ress, James A. Boggs, Gallia County, Ohio".
This was copied exactly as it appeared in Hardesty's. I did not change t he birthyear, nor the spelling of Ora Mae's name. Also, Miriam's maiden n ame was Slone.

Last Will and Testament of James A. Boggs Case No. 917 Filed July 1st, 1889 John J. Thomas, Probate Judge Gallipolis, Ohio
In the Name of God, Amen.
I, James A. Boggs, of the County of Gallia and State of Ohio, do hereby ma ke, publish and declare this my last will and testament hereby revoking a ny and all wills by me heretofore made.
First, I direct my executor here after named to sell all my property perso nal and real except my home farm being in Walnut Township, Gallia Count y, Ohio and pay my funeral expenses and all my last debts as soon as c an be conveniently done after my decease, Second, and the remainder of sa id sales and devise to my wife during her natural life and then to be equa lly divided between my heirs; Ora M. Boggs, William E. Boggs, Thomas A. Bo ggs, James A. Boggs and Lesley E. Boggs.
Third, I leave and bequeath to my wife matilda the home farm on which we n ow live in Walnut Township, Gallia County, Ohio.
Fourth I also give to my wife Matilda all the household furniture, beds, b edding, books, works of art, household provisions and other consumable sto res which shall be in or about my said dwelling house at the time of my de cease.
Fifth, the provision of this my will if accepted by my said wife, sha ll be ___ and ___ thirds and all right of dower and thirds which my said w ife shall have or claim in my estate.
Stephen E. Niday, executor of this my last will and testament.
In witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name and affix my seal, t his 22nd day of June in the year of our lord, one thousand, eight hundr ed and eighty nine.
