Shared Note
| Shared Note: - (Research):I suspect that Elizabeth's surname/last name was Elford because one of her sons by William Bant was Elford Bant, and her daughter Catherine named one of her sons Richard Elford. In the 1841 census of Cornwall (Fowey #9) there was an Elizabeth Elford, aged 48, a baker, born in Cornwall (nowhere specific). Living with her were Maryann 21, Susan 16, Thomas 14 and Henry Downy six. Probably she was a widow, and they were her children. Henry may have been a grandchild or other relative.
Also in the 1841 census of Cornwall (Stoke Climsland #3) was a William Bant 59, agricultural labourer, his wife Ann 55 and three children: Jane 14, Mary 11 and Samuel eight. Elizabeth had been born in Stoke Climsland, a mining village.
William Bant and Elizabeth were not listed together in 1841. I suspect that William's wife Ann died soon thereafter, and he married widow Elizabeth. This is supposition.
