Young Jarrott served in the War of 1812 at which time his residence was Pittsylvania Co., Virginia. He was a private in Captain R. Bullington and Captain Smith Lawson's Virginia Militia Companies: Infantry 4th Reg., Greenhills, Virginia Militia from 1 Sept 1814 to 18 Dec 1814.
Note: Gist and Jarrett claim that from 1820 to 1850 the Jarretts lived in the following counties in Virginia: Henry, Kanawha, Logan, Boone and again Kanawha.
At the time of the U.S. federal census in 1850 the Jarretts were in Boone Co., Virginia. Young was 60 yrs and a farmer. Living with him were his sons Thomas and Samuel.
In the 1860 census of Charleston in Kanawha Co., Young Jarrett, 72, was living with his daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Loam Tripett, and their children, Eli 15 years and Christiana, 11 years. Loam, 52, was a "master carpenter."
