Note: Thomas was a cabinet maker, son of a sailing ship captain. Thomas with his wife and young children sailed for South Australia by the "Pestonjee Baranjee", 595 tons, Capt. J.B. Hill and arrived at Glenelg on 12 Oct 1838. The second Governor (Gawler) also travelled in this ship. Thomas brought with him the framework of a timber house which he erected at North Terrace opposite the present railway station at Adelaide.
Note: After living at North Terrace, Adelaide, the Radfords moved to Wakefield Street, Adelaide; then Encounter Bay; then in 1844 at Hindmarsh Valley; and in 1845 they removed to Angaston, north of the city where Thomas died aged 72 on 22 Aug 1867. His wife Martha had died 3 Aug 1867 aged 71 less than 3 weeks earlier.
