Biographical Notes	Note: There were several Henry Alexanders who served with the Union forces during the Civil War. From Letart township, there was a H. M. Alexander in the Infantry, Private, Co. C, 140 Ohio from Letart Falls. Our Moses Henry sometimes gave his name as Henry Moses. In the 1870 federal census taken in Letart township on 20 July 1870, Henry and Elizabeth Alexander had living in their household Susan Dougherty, 40, ‎(born West Virginia)‎ who "helps keep house," and Ulysses Hobson, 7, who was born in Ohio. Ulysses was attending school. In the 1930 census report Henry M. was 84 years old and Elizabeth was 80. At the time of their marriage he was 23 years and she was 18. They owned their own home which was valued at $4,000. They had a radio; and they were not living on a farm. These questions were asked on the census form. Living with Henry and Elizabeth in 1930 were their granddaughters Gladys and Grace Crow, ostensibly twins, because their ages were both 17 years. Bettie Amos 59 years was a general servant.
