Note: Chauncey G. Nida was born December 21, 1879 and was alive in 1966. He married March 11, 1902 in Gallia County, to Anna Campbell, who was born May 31, 1879 and died January 31, 1956.
Both were born in Gallia County, Ohio, and married there. They lived first on Clay Lick Creek in Harrison Township, Gallia County, next to the home of his parents. Their first child [Jack] was born there. They then moved to Gallipolis, Ohio, where Helen and Glenn were born. Chauncey worked for Standard Oil of Ohio from his moving to Gallipolis.
In 1921 the family moved to Columbus, Ohio. After the death of Anna in 1956, Chauncey soon moved back to Gallipolis where he still resides [in 1966]. Anna is buried at Mound Hill Cemetery in Gallipolis, Ohio.
Chauncey E. Nida, 88, of 19 Court St., a retired employe of Standard Oil of Ohio, died at 10:45 p.m. Tuesday at the McMillen Sanitarium, Columbus. He had been in failing health for several years and in serious condition three days.
Born Dec. 21, 1879 in Harrison Twp., he was the son of the late Franklin D. and Martha McCall Nida. His wife, the former Anna Campbell died in 1956.
Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Helen N. Brannan, Lakewood, Ohio; and two sons, Jack E. Nida, Del Ray Beach, Fla., and Colonel Glenn E. Nida, Columbus. There are seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A member of the Episcopal Church, he was also a member of the Blue Lodge of Masons, Gallipolis, the Scottish Rite and Aladdin Shrine Temple, Columbus.
Services will be held at 1:30 a.m. Saturday at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home under the direction of the Rev. Fr. Albert H. MacKenzie. The body will be cremated. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7-9p.m. Friday. The family asks that flowers be omitted.
