Note: In the 1900 federal census John S. Cook was 43 years old whose occupation was a railroad engineer. He and his wife Mary 45 lived in Parkersburg, Wood Co., West Virginia. Mary E. had only one child, Virginia, who was nine. Nellie R. Cook, sister-in-law [sister], was living with them. She was 50 (born December 1849) and single. Strangely, Mary's birth month was not given. Perhaps Jack didn't remember birthdays!
Also in the household was a 14-year-old servant named Alice Toney.
