Biographical Notes	Note: In 1841 William, 26 yrs, was a "victualer" whose family consisted of Eliza 20, his wife, his eleven-month-old son William, his sister-in-law Mary A. Wood ‎(of independent [means]‎) and young James Pain, a servant at age 12. Living next door to the Nixons was Edwin Bland, a "gun finisher". Next to him was William Dudley, a "gun maker", and next to him was Philip Webley, a "bullet maker". William had much to learn from his neighbours. The next ten years were very productive for William, by 1851, was a "gun maker". He and Eliza 35 now have seven children: William ten, Stephen eight, Joseph six, Sarah four, Samuel three, John two, and Elisa two months. Mary Nory 19 from Ireland is their house servant. She had her hands full, as did Eliza!
