Dies in Columbus Final Rites Here Major C. Brown, 79, of 43 Fallis Road, Columbus died at 9.10 Sunday morning in St. Anthony's Hospital.
One old acquaintance is of the opinion that Major Brown was born in what is now L.R. Hall's property at the foot of Second Avenue on Vine Street. He was the son of Captain Miles H. Brown, and both were well-known steamboat men. They operated for years the small packet Carrie Brown that plied daily between Gallipolis and Huntington. That boat, named for their daughter and sister, was destroyed by fire here early in the century. Not long after that Major Brown and family moved to Columbus.
On February 23, 1893, he and Caroline Donnally, a sister of Joe D. Donnally, were married in the Episcopal church here. She and their three daughters and a son survive: Mrs. Clyde Benoy of Columbus; Miss Eugenie J. Brown, Cleveland; Mrs. Luther Damron, Stuart, Florida; and Oscar D. Brown, clerk of the Columbus Municipal Court. Descedent is survived also by his sister Mrs. Jesse D. (Carrie Brown) Fee of New Orleans.
Interment will be made here Wednesday. Services will be held at the Schoedinger Funeral Home in Columbus at 7.30 p.m. Tuesday.
