Note: Nancy died in 1849, the same year as her parents, the year of the cholera. Did she also get cholera? I am sure that she did. Her two young children also died on the same day, 28 July 1849. Little Mahala was almost five years old, and Samuel was about fourteen months old. What a sad time.
Note: In Jack Nida's book, he says that after Nancy Nida Drummond died, Allen married Anna Blankenship, sister of Jane Blankenship who married Lewis Niday. In the government records it states that Allen Drummond married Anna Clark!
Biographical Notes
Note: Allen Drummond either had some antibodies to cholera, or he was extremely fortunate because on 28 July 1849 his two young children died of cholera followed by their mother Nancy Nida about a week later. This was during the terrible Asiatic cholera epidemic of 1849. Both of Nancy's parents also died during this epidemic. It must have been terrifying.
