Headline: Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Burnette Are Honored On Wedding Anniversary Mrs. Kenneth Walter of Belpre, Ohio and her sister, Mrs. Carl Mossman of Lawrenceburg, Indiana were co-hostesses at a celebration at the Walter home on Braun Road honoring their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Burnette of St. Petersburg, Florida, formerly of Middleport, Ohio. Forty guests were served from the lovely table which held a three-tiered wedding cake topped with a 50th wedding anniversary ornament and encircled at the base with greenery. The center piece was a spray of yellow snapdragons and mums and on each side were autumn gold candles. A large punch bowl completed the table appointments. The home was gay with yellow roses, blue hydrangea, and greenery. Mr. and Mrs. Burnette cut the first piece of cake with a silver carving knife tied with gold ribbon which was presented to their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Mossman, on their silver wedding anniversary and which was used at the wedding of the Mossman's daughter, Mrs. William Blasdel. Miss Linda Walter then served the cake to the guests and Miss Marsha Santee presided at the punch bowl. Miss Nancy Walter was in charge of registering the guests. Mr. and Mrs. Burnette were the recipients of many lovely gifts.
Ralph L. Burnett, 73, a native of Gallia county, died Sunday afternoon in St. Petersburg, Fla., according to word received here by relatives. Mr. Burnett was born in Guyan twp., the son of the late R.W. and America Sheets Burnett. He is survived by his wife, the former Gusta Tipton and two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Dorothy) Walters of Belpre and Mrs. Carl (Frances) Mossman of Lawrenceburg, Ind. Other survivors are two sisters, Mrs. Stanley Thornton of Crown City and Mrs. Frank (Wealtha) Stevers of Columbus and a brother, Gory M. Burnett of Columbus. He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters, Truman Burnett of Kanauga, Mrs. Ezra Niday of Gallipolis and Mrs. W. W. Fite. Mr. Burnett was a retired employee of the Ohio Guel Gas Co., and formerly resided in Cheshire and Middleport. His last employment was in Middleport.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete, but burial will be in Gallipolis.
SCHEDULED FRIDAY The body of Ralph L. Burnett 73, Gallia native, who died Sunday in St. Petersburg, Fla., will arrive in Huntington at 2:55 a.m. Thursday. It will be brought to Miller's Home for Funerals, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Mound Hill cemetery. Friends may call Thursday afternoon and until the hour of the service.
Note: Ralph was jolly. He laughed a lot. He had blonde hair and blue eyes, a Gorey type in appearance. He had a good job with the gas company and retired as one of their employees. They went to Florida for the winter. Their children were Frances and Dorothy Jo. When you went to Grandma's to eat, she would put a tablecloth over the food when the meal was finished. Dorothy Jo used to say, "This old dog smells pickles."
