Shep's Place Family Tree

He was a life long bachelor, although there was a love in his young life, which unfortunately did not come to fruition. His heartbreak was such that he was never able to see himself in another relationship.

With his younger brothers, Earl, Frank, Walter and Clement leaving home between 1910-15, Harvey gradually assumed the full responsibility for maintaining the farm and providing for his mother and father. During the 20s - 30s he also worked in sales for the Bowman Music Store in Ingersoll. He spoke of selling and delivering pianos by horse and wagon throughout Oxford County.

When World War 2 broke out Harvey went to work as a machine operator for the Morrow Nut and Screw Works, which produced parts for the war effort. He continued to work there until circa 1953-54.

About 1962 his brother Frank, having sold his property to the local school board for a new high school, purchased Harvey's farm. Harvey and Frank continued to live together on the farm until about 1972. Due to failing eyesight and a decline in his general health, Harvey moved to Woodingford Lodge in Woodstock, Ontario, where he lived until he was in his one hundred and first year.
