Note: At first Reg was reported missing in action. A fellow private in the 48th Battalion reported having a few words with Reg on the 2nd April while they were at Bullecourt. At that time Reg was stretcher bearing, so it was a period of serious field action. His death was confirmed in a letter to his brother, Corporal E.J. Shepherd, dated 26 Feb 1918. The date of death was recorded as 11 April 1917.
