Hide Details Note: Don started out as a high school teacher after he graduated from Ohio University. In 1948 he became a funeral director and eventually took over his father's business.
In the late 1930s or early 1940s Don and his father had a contract with the United States Army to remove several hundred bodies from cemeteries in the land which was being prepared for the large T.N.T. plant which was to be constructed just north of Point Pleasant on Route 62. Households in the area were expected to rent any spare rooms to the construction workers. Since the funeral home had three rooms on the third floor and a spare on the second floor, it housed several of the workers, that is, until some of the men came home drunk on the 4th of July. After that Katie Foglesong put an end to it.
