Note: Columbus, OhioRaymond S. Kerr, 89, of Columbus, died Thursday, November 14, 2002, at Doctors West Hospital in Columbus. He was born March 8, 1913, in Gallia County, son of the late Curtis M. and Della Steger Kerr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Carrie Black and Hazel Kerr; by a brother who died in infancy; and by his longtime companion, Virgie Stepp. Raymond was a retired employee of the Army Depot in Columbus. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, where he served in the Military Police. He enjoyed hunting and woodworking, and was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds and of the Ohio State Buckeyes. He is survived by a brother-in-law, Addison H. Black of orient; two nephews, David (Ardith) Black and Donald (Jodi) Black, both of Orient; three great-nieces, Ashley, Andrea and Brittany Black; a great-nephew, Clinton Black; special friends, Ralph and Genny Slone of Columbus; and by several cousins. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday November 18, 2002 in the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home in Gallipolis. Burial will follow in Mound Hill Cemetery., Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, November 18, 2002, from noon until the time of the services. There will also be a visitation from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, November 17, 2002, at the Schoedinger Hilltop Chapel, 3030 West Broad Street, Columbus. Military funeral honors will be presented at the cemetery by the Gallia County Veterans Organizations.
