Mary ‎[or Polly as she was known]‎ 40 years had a family of three girls and four boys: Rhoda H. 15, Lucy J. 12, William 11, Jackson ten, Joseph F. seven, Patience S. three and Isaiah W. one. By 1880 most of the children had left home. Those in the household were John and Mary plus "Tacky," daughter 23 and Isaiah 19. Mary by then 50 years old was disabled ‎(not able to perform her usual duties)‎ by paralysis. She may have had a stroke.
