Shep's Place Family Tree

In the 1860 federal census which was taken in Ohio Twp., Gallia County on August 15, Evan was a farmer aged 50 with real estate owned at $1,000 and personal assets owned $550.

His wife Eliza was 45 years old. Both Evan and Eliza had been born in Wales, but all of their children were born in Ohio. The children were Mary 19, Elizabeth 17, Martha 15, Louis 13, Amanda 11, Mariah seven, John five and Eliza one. Eliza had good help from the older girls, I'm sure; but poor Evan needed help with the farming.

On his tombstone, it says that Evan was 60 years old when he died on July 26m 1870. He is buried at the Bethel Church cemetery on the Bladen Mercerville Road.
