Note: Dad remembers walking with his Grandfather Harvey, up past Mudsoc to spend time with Descomb and his family. It would have been a "fur piece" to walk, even today. They would always spend the night.
One night, Descomb spent with Grandpa Harvey and the family in German Hollow. During the night, Descomb got up to go to the outhouse and, he fell down the stairs. The old house in German Hollow had stairs that were almost straight up and down and were really steep. Dad said it just about scared them all out of their wits. Descomb was a big man and when he fell, he made a big boom. Dad said that Descomb's only comment was, "Damm Harv; I fell down the stairs".
