Note: Horace was born at 4:00 a.m. on 20 May 1865 at 16 Regent Street, St Helier. He married Caroline "Lina" Townshend on 1 July 1897 at St Andrew's Church, Parish of Enfield in the County of Middlesex. Caroline was the daughter of Palmer Townshend. In the 1871 census of St Helier, Jersey, Horace is living at home with his family at 16 Regent Road. He is the youngest of three boys and one girl. His other sister Edith Blanch will be born the next year.
In 1901 Horace 35 and his wife Caroline (Townshend) are living in Enfield, London with Horace's mother Harriet 68 and his sister Edith 28. Horace's occupation is that of photographer.
Horace and Lina's son Alan was bon on 10 April 1905 at their home, "Five Oaks," Wellington Road, Enfield.
Horace was a master photographer and formed an extensive collection of family papers and photographs. He joined the volunteer Forces from 13 January 1917 to 10 October 1919--both the 4th and 5th City of London Regiments.
His son Alan commented that his father was a Lewis Gun specialist of the School, a good lecturer and keen observer.
