Note: Edmund Harvey was the oldest of five children of ironmonger George Venning Harvey and Mary Ann Sladden Harvey.
Edmund and Emilie began their married life in Tumby Bay on the Eyre Peninsula near Port Lincoln. They had five children there before moving to a property at Narridy near Crystal Brook, where five more children were born.
About 1900 the Harveys moved to Western Australia, where they settled at Barton, now Piesseville. I hope that the men and boys travelled during the winter months because they went across the Nullabor with bullock carts. Edmund named his new farm "Narridy," one of the largest and best farms in the district. He represented the north-east ward of the Wagin Roads Board.
In September 1906 after only five years of life in Western Australia, Edmund died suddenly. His obituary in the Wagin Argus on September 15, 1906 reads,
"A great deal of surprise as well as regret was manifested in Wagin on Tuesday last when it became known that Mr Edmund Harvey, of Barton, had passed to another world. The cause of death was blood poisoning, and it was only on Sunday last that fatal symptoms exhibited themselves. Deceased was 66 years of age, he having been born in Adelaide, S.A. in 1840. He had been resident in the Barton district for a little over five years...."
