Hide Details Note: In the1841 English census, Thomas Sloggett 20 years was an agricultural labourer in St Mabyn, Bodmin, Cornwall. He lived in the home of Abraham Hambly.

Ten years later Thomas 27 years, his wife Catherine Bant 26 and their first child, Richard, who was only one year old, lived in Thomas' home village of Laneast. Their address was 46 Gradden. Thomas' occupation was that of carpenter, the same as his father, who lived nearby.

Three years later, Thomas and his family sailed to South Australia on the ship "Fortune." They landed in Port Adelaide on 6 June 1854.

The family lived at several places in South Australia: Rivoli Bay, Naracoorte, Nairne and Millicent. Thomas' occupation was generally that of wheelwright.
