Biographical Notes	Note: In the English census of 1871 when Rose was six years old and her brother Charles was only four years old, they were both boarding scholars at Speldhurst which was a little village in Kent between Ashurst, where his parents lived, and larger Southborough. The school mistress was a widow named Sarah Porter, 46 years old. Four and six years seem terribly young to leave the family home for a boarding school.

Birth	Rosa was baptised on 15 January 1865 at Ashurst Mill, Kent.
Biographical Notes	In the English census of 1871 when Rose was six years old and her brother Charles was only four years old, they were both boarding scholars at Speldhurst which was a little village in Kent between Ashurst, where his parents lived, and larger Southborough.
