Birth	17 May 1785 Virginia, USA Note: It is a pity that Nancy Thornton did not live until the 1900 census when everyone's month and year of birth were recorded. According to her tombstone in the Locust Grove M.E. Church in Mason Twp., Lawrence Co., she lived to be 102 years old, which would have put her birth year at about 1782. If, as is more likely, she was born about 1790, her age at death was 94. It doesn't really matter because she lived a very long life. In the 1850 census Nancy's place of birth was given as England; however in the next census it was given as Virginia.
