Note: Mary F. was 35 years old in June 1880. She was born in Virginia, as was her mother; however, her father was born in England.
In 1880 Mary had six children ranging in age from seventeen to nine months. Fortunately for her, her eldest child was a daughter, Laura, 17 years. She may have been a wonderful help for her mother in caring for this large family. Besides Laura, the children were Claude D. 15, Alice E. ten, Lewis C. seven, Guy three, and Bessie nine months (born in August 1879). All of the children were born in Ohio.
By the 1900 census Mary had been married for 39 years. She had had thirteen children of whom eight were living. There were only four children at home: Lewis C., a cabinetmaker; Guy 22, a tinner; Earle 16; and Oliver, a nephew 26 yrs who was a woodcarver.
Mary has died before the next census. She died in 1907 and is buried by her husband and little son Carl (died aged two in 1889) in Mound Hill Cemetery.
Biographical Notes
Note: Mary Frances Clark was about 53 to 54 years old when Carl was born. Was he a very late baby or the son of one of her daughters?
