Note: In 1792 Adda lived in Lunenburg Co. Virginia from which Franklin Co. was formed in 1785. Its county seat was Rocky Mount.
He appeared in the US Census reports for Franklin County, Virginia, from 1810-1850.
On November 7, 1815 he married Winifred Babbitt.
In 1850 he was living in Franklin Co. with Lucy Campbell, aged 39, an unnamed "Jarratt", 21, and almost next to another family of Jarretts, William 55 years and Rebecca, 50 years. Lucy Campbell must have been his daughter Lucy. In 1850 Adda was about 90 years old.
Biographical Notes
Note: On August 3, 1779 Adda bought from Joseph Mize 50 acres adjoining Thomas Jarrett, Sr., Drury Allen, James Callis, and James Mize. In 1787 he paid taxes on 41 acres, one slave, two horses and five cows.
He sold 40 acres to John Wright for £30 on March 6, 1790, after he had moved to Mecklenburg County, Virginia. On November 1793 he bought 75 acres on Mountain Creek from the heirs of William Allen for £50; and on April 8, 1797 he bought an adjoining 50 acres from Pleasant Allen for £50. On December 6, 1800 he sold the 135 acres to Silvanus Ingram for £300.00.
Jarrett then moved to Franklin Co., Virginia, where on November 13, 1801, he bought 300 acres on Indian Branch of Snow Creek from William Jamison for £110. He conveyed his land to Benjamin Cook as trustee for a debt to Dickinson and Shrewsbury; and when the debt was repaid, Cook returned the land to him on December 3, 1813.
On October 11, 1823 Adda gave his son Adda for one dollar 72 acres on the waters of Snow Creek; and August 18, 1826 he sold to his son-in-law Peter Campbell 87 acres for $239.35.
