Note: Catherine married Joe Boase at the Primitive Methodist Chapel in Strathalbyn. Their "Residence at time of Marriage" was Wheal Ellen. The witnesses to the marriage were Thomas and ElizabethVine, also of Wheal Ellen. Both Joseph and Thomas were miners. The bride and groom signed their own names.
George Henry Paynter, the officiating minister, was her brother. He was in Kadina, South Australia in 1898.

We learn of Joe's death from the Adelaide Observer, 26 March 1898, page 16, col. e:
Our Melbourne telegrams record the death of Mr. Joseph Boase, who for many years was a resident of Adelaide. He was well known as the proprietor of livery stables on Currie-street, ad he was regarded as one of the best judges of horses in the colony. Mr. Boase was a Freemason and the founder of the Leopold Lodge in Adelaide. He was also a member of the Rechabite Order. A few years ago he went to Ballarat, and was in business there when he died. Messrs. Fred, A. and J. Boase of Adelaide were sons of the deceased.

BOASE -- On the 20th March at his residence, Raglan-street Ballarat, of Bright's Disease, Joseph Boase (late of Adelaide), dearly beloved husband of Catherine Boase, 59 years. A colonist of 50 years.
