Note: 1870: Susan and John were both 25 years old. John was an engineer, possibly of a steamboat. Their "real estate owned" was valued at $450, and their personal estate was worth $200. Best of all, they had two little children Thomas 4 and Lucy 1. It appears that their home was between the Jane Alexander (Susan's mother) farm and the Wiliam Alexander farm (Susan's brother), which was next to the Thomas & Caroline Alexander farm (Susan's grandparents).
By 1880 John and Susan, now 35 years, had two more children, little George 8 and Emma 4.
By 1900 Susan and John, 55 years, had two more children to the family, John A. and Kitty B. John is a day laborer, while Kitty attends school.
