Note: Matilda married 14 Aug 1834 at Brighton, England, William Henty then practising law there. Emigrated to Australia 1836 the "Fairlie" on which Sir John and Lady Franklin were going to Hobart to replace Governor Arthur. Henry was later to meet Lady Franklin (nee Ellen Brambles of Woolbridge) and described her as a paragon of virtue whom Sir John met when she was 14 and trying to ride two donkeys at once, a foot on each. He proposed when she was 15. She was 16 when they married. Matilda did not remain in Australia. William Henty did well as a lawyer, had been Colonial Secretary for 5 1/2 years and a member of the Tasmanian Legislative Council. They returned to England where Matilda who had been ailing and "difficult" died in May 1879 at Brighton Sussex. William Henty (born 23 Sep 1808) died there 11 Jul 1881.
