Note: Juhl B. Brumfield, 77, of Eureka Star Route, died Monday in London, Ohio, following an extended illness. She retired from the Gallia County SchoolSystem in 1972. Born Feb. 24, 1910 in Guyan Township, Gallia County, she was the daughter of the late Marcus D. and Cora Caldwell Burnette. Married to Vance Brumfield, May 20, 1933 in Gallipolis, he preceded her in death. A graduate of Cadmus High School (1927), she attended Marshall College and Rio Grande College. She taught in Washington, Jefferson and Gallia counties, and substituted in nearly every school in Gallia county and Gallipolis. She is survived by one son, Vance Eugene Brumfield of London, Ohio; grandchildren, Michael and Julia and one great grandchild, Jason; three brothers, Granville, Marshall and Buell Burnette, all of Gallipolis; two sisters, Mrs. Claude (Mary) Swick of Wellston and Miss Lura Kate Burnette of Gallipolis. She was also preceded in death by five brothers. She was a member of the Mercerville Baptist Church, Retired Teachers of Ohio and the Gallia County Retired Teachers Association. Services will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday from Mercerville Baptist Church. Rev. Charles Lusher and Rev. James Lusher officiating. Burial follows in Mound Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home, 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.
