Biographical Notes |
Note: In the 1881 English census Alfred, 34 years and single, is living at home with his parents and younger brother Frederick. Alfred, like his father, is a lithographer master. Alfred's aunt, Harriet Buttfield, who is 48 and widowed, is visiting from Jersey, along with her daughter Edith who is eight years old.
Alfred must have married soon after the 1881 census because by 1901 he had a wife Harriet, who was born in Canada, and a son, Vincent F., who was seven years old. They lived at 4 Carlton Villa in Barnes, Surrey.
Anne M. Alflatt, 28, born in St Sepulchres, London, was their domestic servant.
Anne M. Alflatt is still with the Brooks family in 1901 where they live at 4 Carlton Villa on [Sisters?] Road in Barnes. At age 54 Alfred has retired. His son Vincent F. is a copperplate artist.
Visiting them is Masdes Francious (probably misspelled) 31 years, who was born in France and is a French subject.
