Note: In 1900 Lewis Edgar McClung, aged 35, was a general merchant in Williamsburg, West Virginia. His wife Margaret, 34, had had three children of whom two were still living, Earl 7 years and Keith one.
In 1910 Edgar, was aged 45 and Maggie 43. They had been married for 20 years. Carroll D., 18 and Keith, 12 are at home. [Names have changed - probably through the recording and transcription process of creating census records. The overall story stacks up OK when a number of documents are considered.]
In 1920 Edgar was now 54, and Margaret, 53. They were farming at Meadow Bluff and owned their own property freehold. Their son Keith 21 was a student of engineering. Irene and Richard Harris were "servants" on the farm.
By 1930 Edgar was 65 and Maggie 64, and they had been 25 and 24 years old at the time of their marriage. The children had left home, but Maggie's brother Hayward C. Callison 35 yrs was living with them on the farm at Meadow Bluff.
Nearby lived Winifred McClung and family and John McClung and family. I do not know how they were related.
Both Edgar and his son Carroll died at Rainelle (or Crawley), West Virginia, which is near Rupert (Meadow Bluff) on the 30th of December 1944. It must have been an accident. Margaret died ten months later in Rupert.
