Note: 1841: Mary 30 and her husband Charles 29 were newlyweds. Charles was a blacksmith, and they lived at "High street south of the brook," as did Mary's brother John, a carpenter.
1851: Mary's life was very different. Charles had died while she was pregnant with baby Charles, and she had three other children: John eight, Elliza seven and little Lucy one year. To support her family, Mary was managing the blacksmith business with one employee.
