Biographical Notes |
Note: Alexander was born with a hare lip. He did not marry and remained at home at Glenunga, first with his parents, and after their deaths, with his sisters. One of his interests was shooting and he was a member of the Glen Osmond Rifle Club, which met from 1869-78. After his father's death, he continued to farm at Glenunga. When his mother died in 1885, he was appointed executor, inheriting the "rest residue and remainder of my property both real and personal." Although parts of the property were sold off, Alexander continued to live at Glenunga with his sisters. Alexander Ferguson died on 3.9.1913, aged 78, and was buried with his parents at West Terrace. He made his will in 1907, appointing his nephew William Murdoch, of Parkside, an ironmonger's assistant, as executor, leaving him £5/5/- as payment for his trouble. The residue of his estate of £1,270 was held in trust for his four sisters to "share and share alike."
