Note: After James died Eliza began an upholstery business to support her children. She remained at Bent Street, Adelaide until 1895, then moved to 104 Pulteney Street, one of a number of moves, before finally settling at 80 Hutt St, Adelaide. She died in 1899, The Observer noting, "Eliza Ferguson, relict of the late James Ferguson, on July 3rd, 1899, of Glen Osmond, at Hutt St, Adelaide." Contact continued with the Fergusons and his children were remembered by their aunts. In 1912 Janet left £20 to his "youngest daughter, Janet Earle" and in 1915 Elizabeth left £20 to her namesake, Elizabeth Clark and £10 to "the other daughters of my step-brother James Ferguson."
