Note: Richard, grandfather of Charles Percy Lakeman, left Blackawton for "Bare Town", which could refer to either Bere Alston or Bare Ferriers, both being near the River Tavy where he "traded up and down". In the early part of the 19th century he became ill and was forced to return to his parish of Blackawton to obtain parish relief as he had by then a wife and children, remaining for 8 years.
