Note: In the 1891 English census Muriel's father, Philip Saunders, 40 years, worked as a gardner in Stretford, Lancashire. Her mother Adeleve Jane 39 years had a young daughter at home, Agnes Muriel who was seven years old.
Boarding with the family was 25-year Fanny McDonald, who worked as a confectioners' assistant. Fanny was from Manchester.
