Note: The Fidlers lived in Warblington, Hampshire at the time of the 1841 English census. William aged 25 worked as an agricultural labourer, and Elizabeth at 20 years had baby George, who was one year old.
Note: The Fidlers emigrated to Australia on the ship "Susannah", which arrived in Port Adelaide on 16 May 1849. William and Elizabeth travelled with George, nine, Robert, five and Elizabeth, two.
Elizabeth Shepherd Fidler's brother John and his family would also emigrate later in the year.
[In the handwriting of William Fidler and as he wrote it] "Mount Barker August 22 1875 "My son George the following is not ritin so much for your information as for your children and your children's children that they might know from what and from ware thair ancestors came I was born the 8th of October 1813 at Croomhill in the parish of Otterborne near Winchester hampshier england my father was William Fidler of the same place..farm laberer my grandfather was William Fidler of cranbury park and clark of the parish of otterborne and for many years under Steward at the park my great grandfather was Joseph Fidler of Hursley park near Winchester he died in the year 1814 and was long remmemberd and spoken of as a chearfull lively kind old man my grandfathers famly I knew but little of our own family ware 5 brothers and 2 sisters one sister dead James Jacob Charles henry and Ann still alive at this date and never heard of their death your Mothers maiden name was Elisabeth Sheppard"
