Note: After Charles' unexpected and horrific death at the sawmill in April 1903, Emma stayed on the farm in Guyan township. In the spring of 1910, she was 45 years old and had three of her children at home: Lily 20, Carnot 15 and Gladys.
Her son Butler, his wife Pluma and young daughter Mildred were living on the farm next to them.
According to Bob Caldwell or Claudie Sheets, Emma R. Sheets Bevan was short and fat: 5'6" [that isn't short!] and 170 lbs. [that isn't fat!] After the sawmill accident which killed her husband, she never remarried. When the children grew up she moved to Akron and worked in a restaurant owned by Garrett Sheets (son of Ira Sheets--brother of Claudie). Later in life she lived with Gladys Sheets Caldwell back in Gallia County.
