Note: Eberhard was born about the year 1506. In a legal action of the city of Aix-la-Chapelle Eberhard von Nuett appears in 1556, declaring to have been born and raised in Aix-la-Chapelle, and to be about 50 years old. Eberhard is the ancestor of the present Nida. It is not possible to ascertain whether or not he, with his son Abraham, remained in Aix, or emigrated to Landau, due to the difficulties caused the adherents of the Luthern faith in Aix. We know of other blood relatives who embraced the evangelical faith, but remained in Aix.
Note: Up to the time that they left Aix-la-Chapelle, our ancestors were evidently in good financial circumstances.Like other religious refugees, they were probably able to save only part of their property. The descendants of Urban were almost without exception coopers. Since Landau was a large wine trading center the choice of this occupation is quite natural. Members of this family ran distilleries. Some also owned vineyards.
Note: The genealogy of our ancestors in Landau was easily ascertained due to the almost entirely preserved church records. Further explanations about the Nuett, whose name soon was changed to Nitta and Nida, were obtained from the records of the council and the Beethbuescher (tax records arranged according to guilds' and other records of the city archives).
