Note: Before the 1860 federal census, the Nidas had moved from Gallia County, Ohio, to Wayne County, Iowa (post office: Corydon). Their daughter Jane may have stayed in Ohio, but it seems that all the others went with their parents.
Henry had died by the time of the 1870 census, leaving son James L. 26 yrs "head of household." James was a farmer, while his mother Margaret 59 was the housekeeper. Also at home were Maggie 20 yrs, who "teaches school;" and Cassan E. (male) 18 years.
Margaret is not listed in the James L. Nida household at the time of the 1880 federal census. She probably had died by then.
