Henry had died by the time of the 1870 census, leaving son James L. 26 yrs "head of household." James was a farmer, while his mother Margaret 59 was the housekeeper. Also at home were Maggie 20 yrs, who "teaches school;" and Cassan E. ‎(male)‎ 18 years.

Margaret is not listed in the James L. Nida household at the time of the 1880 federal census. She probably had died by then.
