Leslie Matthews Siders, 72, a retired farmer who resided on Texas Rd., died at noon Tuesday in Holzer hospital. He had been a patient there for two days, but had been in ill health for a period of 11 years. In his early years, he was a Galli county school teacher, but most of his life, he engaged in farming in the Alexander community. He left the farm and removed to Gallipolis four years ago. He was born in Perry twp. on April 11, 1886, the son of the late Henry and Lodice Payne Siders. His marriage to the former Rachel Davis who survives was an event of June 8, 1918. They had no children. Mr. Siders was preceded in death by a brother, two sisters and two half-brothers, Bert Siders, Mrs. Minnie Shoemaker, Mrs. Mattie Nichols and Henry and John Cromwell. He was a member of the First United Presbyterian church of Gallipolis. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Wetherholt-Elliott-Sanders Funeral home. Rev. P. A. Casto will officiate and burial will follow in Tyn Rhos cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday evening and until the hour of the services.
