1880: William 40 years and Martha 36 had the following children at home on their farm in Cass County, Nebraska: James C. eleven, Martha J. nine, John L. seven, William E. four, Minnie B. three, and Emma L. one. James and Martha were born in Ohio, but the other children were born in Nebraska. William's brother Oliver, 23 years, was living with them and worked on the farm. Oliver eventually went to California.
