He arrived in South Australia on the ship Rajasthan in 1840 when he was about eleven years old.
Amos married Hephzibah Wagg at Blakiston on 16 June 1846 on a South Australian winter's day.
Amos' birthday is two days later (13 May) in the Biographical Index of South Australians from which we also learn that Amos was a farmer and grazier who lived in Watergate, Lake Plains, Echunga and Bordertown. He was a Congregationalist.
