At that time they had four children: Virginia eight, William six, N.E. ‎(girl)‎ four and Martha one. 1860: They had moved into Harrison township in Gallia county. There Jessie 42 years and Martha 43 years had added to their family. The children were Virginia 18, William 16, Frances 14, Tennessee 12 and Adam three years. Baby Albert Shoemaker, one year old, was living with them. 1870: Still in Harrison township Jesse and Martha had only two young ones at home, son Adam, eleven, and Albert Shoemaker ten.
