Note: 1870: Cynthia A. Smith Parr first shows up as Hamilton's wife in the 1870 census, although they had ostensibly married in 1859. Cynthia was 34 years when she married Hamilton and 41 when she had her last child. When her husband died in 1874, she was left with four children aged eight to 14 years.
1880: Cynthia, 55, has noted that she suffers from "pluricy." With her are Evaline 20, Nancy 18, James H. 15 and Loly 13. The two younger children are at school.
