Note: 1860 Mason county: James M. Rogers, 39 yrs, was a tailor who was born in Virginia. His wife Lucinda 35, and all seven of their children were born in Kentucky. The eldest son Albert L. 20 yrs was a "common schoolteacher." The other children were Henrietta 17, James H. 15, George 13, Alexander K. 11, William eight and Thomas five. Also living with the family was a young Bavarian man named Henry, aged 22 years, who was a tailor and probably helped James with his business. James owned 500 of real estate and 400 of personal estate.
1870 Flemming county: the Rogers had moved to Flemingsburg where James 49 yrs was a merchant and tailor with $800 of real estate and $500 of personal assets. Lucinda was 44 yrs and had four children at home: Henrietta 23; Alexander 19, a dry goods clerk; William 16 and Thomas twelve. James and George were working in Maysville as clerks in a store. They lived in the household of Elizabeth Gray.
