Note: Martha Frances Wood married her cousin Thomas W. Malone, son of Betsy Moore Malone. It was a double wedding with Sarah Stull, daughter of Mary Wood Stull and Edmund Wingo. Mary Wood was the daughter of Joseph Wood and Martha Epperson.
Note: In 1870 the Thomas & Martha Malones were living in Mason City, West Virginia. Thomas owned real estate valued at $800. and personal estate at $100. Thomas' occupation was engineer, while Martha's was keeping house. their children were Bernard 18, well borer; Bluford 16, Thomas W. Jr 12; Samuel H. nine; and Stonewall Jackson Malone, seven years old. All of the family was born in Virginia; only Stonewall J. was born in West Virginia!
There were five others in the household besides the family plus a five-month-old infant. Nancy Dolan, aged 25, was a domestic servant. She had a baby born in February. Another domestic servant was Eliza Saunders. John Campbell--relationship unknown--was designated "cripple." Lewis Dolan, 28 years and a well borer, may have been Nancy's husband. Then there was Ernest Kroger, aged 25 and born in Germany, who was a bromine maker.
