Biographical Notes |
Note: 1850 Boone Co., Virginia: Samuel was 15 and living with his father Young Jarrett and his brother Thomas. All were farmers. 1860 Charleston, Kanawha Co., West Virginia: Samuel Jarrett, 24, was a clerk living with his first cousin Eli Triplett, 15, in a home owned by Joseph and Margaret Bibby, both born in England. The Bibbys had eight children at home plus three boarders. The Bibby's real estate was valued at $16,000 and their personal estate at $8,000--one of the highest I've come across.
1870 Sissonville P.O., Union District, Kanawha Co., West Virginia: Apart from the initial "E" rather than "Y", this could be our Samuel. If so, he was 35 yrs old, born in "Virginia now West Virginia," and a school teacher. Clarissa (Clara!) was 26 yrs and keeping house. They had a one-year-old daughter Emma who was born in West Virginia.
